Anna & Maifea had an intimate family ceremony at the welder and then celebrated with their wider group of friends the following day at their home in fendalton.

We were able to re-use a lot of the elements for both days which made sense both for budget & ensuring that the same look and feel was carried throughout the weekend.

Susie blatchford edited & printed two amazing images of the ceremony day overnight, which we displayed in large white frames at the reception party. This meant all of their guests we’re able to feel part of their special day and witness their nuptials.

We spoke to Anna & Maifea about the details of their wedding weekend…

You structured your wedding quite differently to “the traditional wedding” – tell us about it and why you opted for this style?

Originally, we were planning a very traditional wedding because we felt that was the only way but once we sat back and thought “if there were no traditions or rules as such, how would we do it exactly how we want?” So that is what we did – a private ceremony and dinner with our immediate families and a few close friends and then a big party with our wider friends and family the day after and we don’t regret a thing! We contacted truly yours and told them our vision and they bought it to life, we knew it was going to be good but it was amazing! Lucy, Sophie and Jamie are the best and nothing is ever too difficult. We would use them again 1000 times over, not that we plan on getting married again!

3 must-haves - your advice to future couples planning their wedding…

Do it how you want to! Don’t worry about how everyone else is having their weddings. Bring your own dream to life, you will be so happy you did!

Don’t just go with the cheapest option for the photographer, go with the one you love the most. We went with Susie bBatchford and that was the best decision ever. We loved her photos and were happy to invest our money no matter whether she was cheaper or more expensive than the rest. I think the photos were one of the most important things for us as they hold the memories forever! We loved how light and bright her photos were and she was super cool to hang out with too!

Good cake – we have had so many people tell us how amazing our cake was. Full time tart is the way to go. She will make whatever design you want and her flavours are the best. We have frozen some for our 1st anniversary and we can’t wait to eat it again!! (pistachio raspberry and white choc is heaven)
